Where do Good Wine Shop wines come from?

All our wines are curated by our team of experts and we pride ourselves on sourcing lesser-known wines from all around South Africa. That essentially means that these are wines that you can’t find in Pick n Pay, Spar Tops or your standard bottle store. All of the wines listed are shipped directly from the wine estates as you place your order, and so delivery can take a little longer to more remote locations. But with anything in life, good things are worth waiting for!

Can I buy wine by the bottle?

All our wine is sold by the case (six bottles) due to the fact that it’s shipped from a wine estate and not from a central warehouse. Unfortunately we are not able to ship individual bottles separately or mix cases (unless these are advertised as a monthly mixed case special). All wines must be ordered per case (you won’t regret it later!)

How long will delivery take?

For standard areas in South Africa delivery will take place within 3 to 5 business days via the Courier Guy shipping company.

Deliveries to outlying areas take place once a week and so may take 2 to 3 days longer, depending on the day of the week the order is placed and the weekly schedule for deliveries.

To see if your area is considered to be “outlying” simply input your postal code on the cart or checkout page. Those not included will be quoted separately for shipping.

How much does shipping cost?

Good Wine Shop ships to all major centres in South Africa at a standard rate of R115 up to and including 12 bottles, then R45 per additional case of 6 bottles after that.

All orders have a minimum of any 1 case (6 bottles) per order.

For outlying areas, your shipping fee amount will be quoted separately by the Courier Guy and emailed to you for approval and payment.

Can I change my order after it has been submitted?

Sure! We personally handle every order, so give us a call if you’d like to change something on the same day of placing your order.

Any cancellations to orders after being either packed or dispatched will incur a 10% handling and restocking fee. See full details on our terms page.

How do I track my order?

We ship using the Courier Guy company. We’ll give you a waybill number with your order and you’ll be able to track your delivery online.

How do you handle returns?

Customer satisfaction is the main priority of Good Wine Shop. Should you find any wine purchased to be defective, please contact us and we will endeavour to replace the wine, should a replacement be available. If the wine is no longer in stock, the customer’s account is credited the purchase price. Alternatively, a refund is made into the bank account used at checkout.

As we are unable to ensure temperature control once an order leaves the cellar, please ensure that you contact us within 2 days of receipt of your order. After this period, you as the customer tacitly confirm your wine as accepted in good order.

What is your policy on vintage?

While we do the utmost to list correct vintages on the Good Wine Shop website, at times an estate may run out of a particular vintage without alerting us ahead of time. In that instance we may send you the next available vintage but we will endeavour to notify you of any change before shipping. Should you wish to change your order you may select another wine of equal or lesser value as an alternative.

Do you ship internationally?

Unfortunately, at this time Good Wine Shop does not offer any form of international shipping. Should you wish to arrange your own International shipping, we can arrange to ship your order via an outside service provider, provided that they can legally ship to your intended destination. Please contact us for further information on info@goodwineshop.co.za.

Can I order wine as a gift?

What a good idea! (Can we be friends?) Simply specify the address of the person you would like to ship the order to and pop us a mail to ensure we have the correct name on the waybill. But please only supply one address per order as shipping is calculated per destination. If you would like to send to multiple addresses, please place separate orders.
