Radford Dale

Across everything we do at Radford Dale, we aim to create wines of complete individuality, always. Combining a keen pursuit for innovation and a healthy respect for tradition, we aim to make refined wine with a conscience.
Founded in 1998 by Ben Radford and Alex Dale, we make our wines using sustainable agricultural methods and non-interventionist, minimal additive winemaking at our cellar on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain in Stellenbosch. We are fully accredited for environmental, ethical, and social-upliftment practices too.

We do plenty of experimentation, guided by our amazing geology and by our love for wines of finesse, grown in their individual terroirs. We have a particularly rich diversity of soils in the Cape, derived from our magnificent granitic mountains and influenced by the cooling winds of our two oceans, Atlantic & Indian.

Our wines are strongly site-driven, natural and balanced – because we believe South African wines should reflect the individuality of their distinct terroirs. Our wines are made using natural yeasts, low levels of Sulphur, little or no other adjustments, and see the minimal usage of new oak. We are inspired by nature and do our best to work with it.

We make wines from three separate and very different geographical regions and carefully selected specific vineyard sites and growers in: the Helderberg (Stellenbosch), the Swartland and Elgin, to reflect the styles that each region and terroir has the potential to produce.
