Take a drive up the beautiful Cape West Coast to visit the Darling, Olifants River, Cederberg and coastal wine estates, in this newest of South Africa’s Wine routes.
The West Coast wine route stretches up to Strandfontein at the mouth of the Olifants River, some 300 km north of Cape Town, to the northernmost wine regions of the Western Cape.
The region grows a variety of red and white grapes, such as Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne, Viognier and Colombard. Some of the best vineyards are located just above the banks of the Olifants river floodplain.
